FSIP takes mental health seriously. We are run by qualified and accredited Psychotherapists who fully understand what is required of volunteers. Read below for details of board members.
Jeni Whittaker – Director
Jeni is a qualified and UKCP accredited Psychotherapist, trained in Transpersonal Integrative modalities. In London she worked for the NHS, Maytree Respite for Suicide, private practice and in Waterloo Community Counselling with refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants. She uses Spanish, Portuguese and French as well as English and also speaks basic Russian and Persian. Jeni works with couples and groups as an Imago Relationship Therapist, and also practises various complementary therapies. Jeni volunteered in la Prison Civile de Lome in 2015 after which she began formulating the idea of FSIP. She is now based in Galway and works for Let’s Get Talking Galway, Galway Traveller Movement and in private practice as Soul Focus Therapy. Aside from this, given her 12 years of experience in qualitative research and branding, she is passionate about combining the fields of research and therapy to create lasting and effective solutions that truly get to the root of the issue.
Clara Slattery – Director
Clara is a qualified Psychotherapist and accredited member of IACP. She trained with the Tivoli Institute in Dublin and uses a range of approaches and modalities in her therapeutic work. Clara has 17 years’ experience in the NGO sector, working on human rights and justice issues, with 11 of those years providing emotional support to clients in a one on one setting. She previously worked for charity Ruhama on sexual violence and trauma, as well as undertaking various research projects in different settings. Clara has extensive experience in working with asylum seekers, refugees and prisoners and uses English, German and Spanish. Clara volunteered in la Prison Civile de Lome in September 2016 after joining the board of FSIP in May 2016, before our official inauguration. She now works in private practice in Ennis (see www.claretherapy.com) and for Pieta House in Limerick on suicide prevention, self harm and bereavement through suicide.
Laura Payne – Trustee
PR, Journalism and Social Media Manager
Laura is a qualified and UKCP, BACP accredited Psychotherapist and Supervisor. Also a Journalist and Writer, she trained in Transpersonal Integrative Psychotherapy in London and then went on to become a Supervisor, a Life Coach and a Mindfulness Practitioner and Author – see Nine Steps to a Mindful Life (Without Meditating). She works in private practice as Laura Payne Psychotherapy. Laura became an FSIP Trustee in December 2016, bringing with her a wonderful amount of advice and experience. Laura is based in the South of England and is the go-to person for Psychotherapists and other volunteers based in the UK. Laura works on the PR and Journalism side of FSIP. Aoife Scott – Trustee
Grant Applications Manager and Communications Executive
Aoife is a compassionate student who takes value in helping those less fortunate. She has a degree in Veterinary Science and is soon to finish a second degree in Speech and Language Therapy. She has been a great asset to FSIP as our Grant Applications Manager and is now beginning to work on our comms side, developing our contacts with Psychotherapy schools across Ireland and the UK. Shehzad Anwar – Treasurer
Shahzad is an experienced bookkeeper & part qualified Certified Chartered Accountant with a history of working in SMEs based in Europe & APAC. He has an MBA in health business management from Metropolia AMK Helsinki, Finland and BSc Hons in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University England. He is involved in many projects promoting internationalism and culture in Finland. He believes in mankind and giving back to society through social and charity work.
Shahzad is our Treasurer, assisting FSIP as a volunteer. He helps to maintain the overall financial health of the organisation and in the future will be involved in formulating funding strategies.
